Directed by Adrián Santucho, "Mi Primera LoCura" is a documentary about the battle and the sport in the figth againts ALS.
On Friday, June 21st, on the World Day of ALS Awareness, the documentary was presented at the Brazzola Municipal Theater in Chascomús, AGR.
Chascomús, Argentina, is the setting for a moving story of struggle and solidarity. Hernán "Toro" Merlo Ocampo, an orthopedic surgeon, and Walter Sullings are two athletes from this city who share the diagnosis of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Faced with this devastating disease, a group of friends and family members mobilizes to help them fulfill their dream of running a marathon again.
The documentary "Mi Primera LoCura" narrates this odyssey, showcasing the collective effort of this community. ALS is a progressive disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, leading to a loss of muscle control. Even as this condition gradually takes away their mobility, their minds and hearts remain intact.
The film invites reflection on the importance of friendship and family love in the fight against ALS. The passion for running and the protagonists' desire to overcome their physical limitations is a powerful reminder of the human capacity to face adversity with dignity and courage.
The production highlights the spirit of strength, hope, passion, love, and friendship that drives the protagonists to confront this harsh reality. The documentary not only tells the story of Hernán and Walter but also aims to raise awareness about the disease, with the goal of promoting its study and finding a cure.
It is worth noting the commitment of the Esteban Bullrich Foundation, which has joined forces to raise awareness about ALS and provide support to those who suffer from the disease. Their work reflects a deep dedication to improving the quality of life for patients and their loved ones.
Hernán "Toro" Merlo Ocampo and Walter Sullings, with the help of their community, seek to transform their first post-diagnosis run into a symbol of resilience and determination. The strength to keep fighting, the hope of finding a cure, and the passion for sports are intertwined in this inspiring story.
For them, running is not just a sporting goal but an act of defiance against a disease that threatens to stop their bodies. "Mi Primera LoCura" documents this brave journey, highlighting the transformative power of the human spirit and the unbreakable support network that surrounds them.
